DTF by ZAND is on our Error 404 Playlist. We love the sound and lyrics, which are powerful, playful, beautiful and obnoxious all at the same time. One of the most exciting and hotly tipped rising stars in alternative pop; ZAND is a force to be reckoned with as they demonstrate their prowess as a triple threat; singer, songwriter and producer.
ZAND didn’t want to conform to others’ ideas of the rules their music should follow, but they didn’t want to follow the patterns of just one genre either. They needed a genre all of their own, and coined the term ‘ugly pop’ to describe their all-encompassing, genre-destroying, technicolor sound.
Occupied with exploring the notion of ‘sin’, their album ‘Sewerstar’ follows a narrative set in an underground sewer realm. The stomping ‘DTF’ inverts expectations tapping into the feeling of not being DTF at all: just ‘down to f*ck myself’.
The Error 404 Playlist is our curated yet ongoing selection of artists that we love because of their highly energetic and chaotic sound. PRAWN’s main focus is on spotlighting unsung voices and diverse talent. This is part of our first initiative in a continuous project to create a multi-genre soundscape, oscillating between the absurd and the sensical.
